and operate a fleet of high specification semi submersible drilling
rigs for offshore oil and gas exploration and development drilling
in deep water and harsh environments. The rigs are among the most
advanced in the world and are capable of drilling in ultra-deep
water of up to 10,000 feet.
The Vigeo-Ocean rig alliance with the ultimate intension of operating
a Joint Venture (JV) Company, is poised to be a part of the operators
involved in the Nigerian deep water development.

Bingo 9000 Concept
The
Ocean Rig Bingo 9000 is a fifth generation semi submersible drilling
unit, designed for deepwater and harsh environment operations. The
units are designed for operations of up to 3,000 m water depth,
in a dynamic positioned mode, which in the drilling sector is referred
to as “Class 3”. The Bingo 9000 design is capable of
reducing well construction time by approximately 15 % compared with
its fourth generation predecessors. Special consideration has also
been given to ensure a safe working environment is created and the
least possible emission occurs while utilizing the rig.
Two
of the rigs utilised are the “Leiv Eriksson”
and the “Eirik Raude”.
The
Leiv Eriksson is outfitted for operations in 2,500
m water depth. Eirik Raude is fully winterized
for year round operations. |
